Reddi or Not

We’ve still got Reddi-Whip in the fridge left over from Thanksgiving. We all do – don’t we? What a fun product! What other food is there that you can squirt out of a can?

A can of Reddi-Whip has – are you ready for this? – 37 servings. Thirty seven? That’s 6 pies. That’s a lot of pie. No wonder it’s still in the fridge. So yeah, we gotta find other uses for Reddi-Whip. Here we go:

·         Coffee creamer – Yum!

·         Shaving cream – a little dab’ll do ya

·         Fake snow on your Christmas tree – not for families with pets

·         Substitute for sour cream – this would likely be last year’s Reddi-Whip

Regarding the shave, you’ll have to lay it on its side in you keep it in your medicine cabinet, but Reddi-Whip’s worth a whole shelf!

Master Bedroom

I think there are two stages of working from home. Stage one is working from home. Stage two is working from your bedroom. I would hope that people could at least leave their bedrooms for Zoom calls, or at least point the camera away from the bed and the dresser. I don’t want to see my co-workers' bedrooms. I really don’t.

I made that comment to a former co-worker friend who’s been working at home for nine months. Well, I couldn’t have inserted my shoe any further into my mouth. He said he never leaves his bedroom for Zoom calls and that his biggest challenge for the calls is trying to remember to put on a shirt. This led to a lull in our conversation. I made a mental note to never facetime the guy.

It’s fun to see these new standards developing, isn’t it?

The Ear

I saw this guy on TV today doing sports. His ears really stuck out. This may have been due to him wearing a mask that was too tight. This led me to run to the bathroom mirror to see if my ear angles had changed during Covid. While the left one looked normal, the right one appeared to be slightly farther from my head than before. I’m in the process of comparing my present appearance with some old pictures along with my portrait (yes, I have a portrait).

While increased ear angles can be unsightly to some, this can lead to improved hearing I bet. Like braces used to straighten teeth, a too tight mask can bring the ears outward and thus improve our hearing. I haven’t run this by my ENT yet, but it’s gotta be true, doesn’t it?

Thanks for letting me bend your ear about this.

Spare Bedroom

So yeah, now we have the 8AM designated shopping hour for senior citizens. I guess Kroger figures nobody gets a morning paper anymore, so the seniors have time on their hands at that hour. These seniors get to shop in the fresh, clean store with untouched displays. And fresh baked goods. And they get first shot at the sale items. First shot at everything.

So when I go to Kroger at noon and there’s no toilet paper…well, you make your own conclusion. I think these seniors are hoarding it in their “guest bedroom” and dealing it. At a pretty, pretty fair markup, I bet.

More on this as it unravels…

Uncle Tom Collins

I bought alcohol today and had to show an ID. I said to the clerk, “I’m Uncle Tommy.” He said, “Huh?”. Turns out he doesn’t read the blog. (One of those freak things, I guess.) So I showed him my ID and explained it the way I always do (lately) by saying, “That’s me without the mask.” I think he appreciated that but you can’t get a good read on non-verbals with these darned masks on...

It was weird to get “carded” at my age. I wonder if they card people for alcohol during the designated senior citizens shopping hour. That would seem hypocritical. I mean, you have to be like 55 to get in, right?

Perhaps one of you older readers who drinks could chime in on this.
