A long time reader wrote in regarding the recent Kentucky Derby post and pointed out what he thought was an error. He stated that, three years ago during Covid, that it wasn’t the horses running without jockeys, but that it was the jockeys running without the horses. Sorry long time reader - you might be thinking of The Preakness. How soon we forget. Yeah, it was The Preakness where the jockeys ran around the track. Times were very slow and 4 jockeys did not finish the race. And people left during the race. Heck, CBS ran commercials during the race. Times were so slow that, for the Belmont (the third race in the Triple Crown), they let the jockeys bring their cars onto the track and the 2020 Belmont was won by a 2014 Nissan Leaf.
Those were some crazy times!
