Swift Runner

The Detroit Lions drafted a running back in the first round of this year’s NFL draft. This made their incumbent running back D’Andre Swift expendable. So they put the word out that they were willing to trade him. He was gone in a matter of hours. The Super Bowl loser Philadelphia Eagles gave the Lions a future draft pick for him. Just like that, he was gone. Just like that.

Why was there such a high demand for Mr. Swift? He was not a great player. He was good at catching passes out of the backfield, but he was hurt a lot. So, why the high demand?

My theory is that there was (is?) such a high demand for Taylor Swift concert tickets that some of this (just a bit) rubbed off on D’Andre. It’s just a theory, I know, but good luck disproving it. And don’t be surprised when the Eagles have D’Andre sing the National Anthem at a game this fall. Yeah. It doesn’t take a genius to figure this stuff out.
