Olympic Proportions

Olympic observations:
  • In the high hurdles last night the race was 110 meters long but the hurdles were 42 inches high. Wait, what? Are we doing meters or not?
  • That green water in the diving pool had me trying to find the “Tint” button on my remote. Remember the tint button? I bet a lot of people called the TV repairman for the color on that pool. Those same people called the television repairman during the 2012 Olympics due to Bob Costas’ pinkeye. At least there’s no yellow fever…
  • Is it me, or are the athletes getting older? Usain Bolt is in his 3rd Olympics, Michael Phelps has been around forever, and American sprinter Justin Gatlin is 34. With this trend, who’s left for the Senior Olympics?
  • The green water in the pool also gave me a sudden urge to color eggs.
  • With so many athletes failing drug tests, why not run a separate set of games where drug use is allowed? Broadcast it on the Discovery channel or maybe MTV.
  • What’s with the swimming relay teams not having to carry a baton?
